Description

The increasing number of vehicles on the road intersections has given rise too many problems like road accidents congestions and conflicts. These problems can be solved by designing a proper traffic signal at intersections for continuous and smooth movement of vehicles. Traffic signal controls the movement of traffic and not only reduces accidents but enables the road safety users to effectively use the area of road at intersection. The primary objective is to establish and efficient signalling system at Chalode junction in Kannur districts where the current accidents rate is alarmingly high due to the absence of proper traffic control system. The projects aim to facilitate orderly and efficient movement of vehicles. The focus junctions at the crossroads of Mattannur-Kannur Road and Anjarakkandy-Irikkur road, where traffic congestion is persistent issue, this project utilise Websters method, considering maximum average passenger car unit (PCU) at the junction in each direction. This project aspires comprehensive solutions to alleviate traffic congestion, enhance traffic flow and improve road safety in Chalode junction thereby contributing to the overall urban development and quality of life in Kannur district
