Sports and Games

Physical Education has the opportunity to inculcate ethical values and influence moral behaviour of students through Sports and Games. The college provides excellent facilities for sports and games. A wide range of opportunities for outdoor games and indoor games are available in the campus. To keep the students fit and strong, a health club is also set up.

STM conducts an annual Games and Athletics Meet Ignite every year during the odd semester time. The event comprises all major games events such as Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis and included the major track and field events in athletics section.

In addition to this our students have represented and won prizes in many University Zonal and InterZonal games events conducted yearly.

Achievements

  • STM Volleybal Team participated in F-Zone Volleyball Tournament held at MIT Anjarakkandy on 15/10/2025 and hold Second Runners Up among 18 Colleges from 4 districts. Also Our students Abhinav Anil (S5 ECE) and Alansaj E (S1 ME) got selected for Interzonal Volleyball Tournament.

  • Our Students Rasha Valsan  from S7 CSE and Shriya Shine from  S1 CD got selected for KTU Interzonal Chess championship after their great performance in KTU F-Zone Chess championship held at STM Sivapuram on 25/09/2025.

  • Our College hosted KTU- Fzone CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP on 25/09/2025 and 26/09/2025 by coordinating teams from 4 different districts. Mr. Muralidharan PT, Assistant Professor Physcical education department  STM act as convenor for the event.

  • Our Students Akarsh KP ( S3 ECE) & Abhinav Anil (S3 ECE) got selected for KTU- Interzonal Volleyball Championship after clearing selection trials hed at Government Physical Education College Calicut on 22/10/2024.

  • Our Pride student Rasha Valsan from S5 CSE got selected for KTU Interzonal Chess Championship after her tremendous performance in KTU F-Zone Chess championship held at Government Physical Education College Calicut on 21/10/2024

  • Abhinav Anil from S1 ECE Got selected for KTU Interzonal Volleyball Tournament after his great performance in KTU Fzone Volleyball Tournament held at AWH Calicut on 27/11/2023.

  • Our students Muhammed Muaad Farook (S7 ECE), Mohammed Zahin P M ( S7 CE) & Ayush Sunil kumar 9 S5 CSE) got selected for KTU Interzonal Table Tennis Tournament after their tremendous performance in KTU- FZONE Table Tennis Tournament held at Government college of Engineering Kannur.

  • Muhammed Ladhin(S7 ME), Mohammed Zahin P M (S5 CE) got selected for interzonal Table Tennis Tournament considering tremendous performance in F-Zone Table Tennis Tournament hed at Government College of Engineering Kannur on 29/10/2022. Interzonal Competition held at Federal Institute of Science & Technology  Angamaly on 02/11/2022. the Tean secured win till quarterfinals.

  • Muhammed Ladhin (S7 ME) and Gokul Pramod (S7 CE) got selected for KTU Interzonal Badminton championship after their tremendous performance in KTU F Zone Badminton championship held at GCE Kannur on 27/10/2022.

  • Our College Football team participated in 7s Football Tournament held at St.Thomas College of Engineering and Technology, Chengannur. Among 16 teams our team won the Championship after beating STC Bteam.

  • STM defeated College of Engineering, Wayanad to bag the 3rd Place in the KTU F Zone Cricket Championship!Captain Vishnu (S7 ME) again played a top class innings to get the team it's deserved victory.We are the only Self Financing College across Kerala to be in the TOP 12 / Top 18 position consistently for the last 3 years out of 140 Engineering colleges.

  • STM Women's Badminton team defeated College of Engineering, Vadakara in the PreQuarter Finals of the KTU F Zone Championship !! 👏👏👏

IGNITE 2K25 06-10-2025

The Annual Sports Meet IGNITE 2K25 was conducted from 06th October 2025 to 11th October 2025, spanning six days of exciting games and athletic events. The grand inaugural ceremony was held on 11th October 2025 at the college ground, marking the commencement of the Athletic Meet. The event began with the flag hoisting and was inaugurated by Dr. Shinu Mathew John, Principal of the College, followed by a march past by various student contingents. The gathering was graced with felicitation speeches by Mr. Rijo Thomas Jose, CEO, and Mr. Muralidharan P. T., Assistant Professor, Department of Education. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Sreya Sajeevan, Vice Chairperson of the College Union. IGNITE 2K25 celebrated sportsmanship, teamwork, and enthusiasm, making it a memorable event for all participants and attendees
IGNITE 2K24 27-01-2025

The Annual Sports Meet 2K24 was successfully conducted from 27th January 2025 to 1st February 2025, spanning six days of exciting and competitive events. The meet featured a variety of games and athletic events, encouraging active participation from students across all departments. The inaugural ceremony was held on 1st February 2025 at the college ground. The event commenced with the flag hoisting and official inauguration by Dr. Shinu Mathew John, Principal of the college, followed by an impressive march past by the student contingents. A felicitation speech was delivered by Mr. Rijo Thomas Jose, CEO of the institution, appreciating the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork. The oath-taking ceremony was led by Ms. Anjana Pramod, General Secretary of the College Union, reaffirming commitment to fair play and discipline.
IGNITE 2K23 13-11-2023

The Annual Sports Meet 2K23 was conducted from 13th November 2023 to 19th November 2023, spanning six days of exciting and spirited competitions. The event featured a variety of game events and athletic meets, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness among students. The inaugural ceremony was held on 18th November 2023 at the college ground. The event commenced with the flag hoisting and official inauguration by Dr. Shinu Mathew John, Principal, followed by an impressive march past by various houses and departments. The ceremony was graced with felicitation speeches by Er. Rijo Thoms Jose, CEO, and Mr. Sreerej M., College Union Chairman, highlighting the importance of sports in holistic education. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Anjana Pramod, General Secretary of the College Union. The Sports Meet 2K23 successfully fostered enthusiasm and unity among students, marking a memorable week of athletic excellence

The Annual Sports Meet  IGNITE 2K22 of the college was conducted from 10th November 2022 to 19th November 2022, spanning five days of exciting game events and athletic competitions. The inaugural ceremony was held on 19th November 2022 at the college ground, marking the commencement of the Athletic Meet. The event began with the flag hoisting and inauguration by the College Principal, Dr. Shinu Mathew John, followed by an impressive march past by the students. A felicitation speech was delivered by CEO Er. Rijo Thoms Jose, appreciating the enthusiasm and sportsmanship of the participants. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Nandana K. T., General Secretary of the College Union. The Annual Sports Meet 2K21 was a grand success, promoting teamwork, discipline, and the spirit of healthy competition among students.
IGNITE 2K21 15-12-2021

The Annual Sports Meet 2K21 was conducted from 15th December 2021 to 23rd December 2021, featuring a wide range of game events and athletic competitions. The inaugural ceremony was held on 23rd December 2021 at the college ground, marking the grand finale of the athletic meet. The event commenced with the flag hoisting and official inauguration by Dr. Shinu Mathew John, Principal of the college, followed by an impressive march past by students from various departments. A felicitation speech was delivered by Er. Rijo Thomas Jose, CEO, highlighting the importance of sports and teamwork. The welcome address and vote of thanks were presented by Mr. Sreelal Sivan (AP, ECE) and Mr. Midhun Krishnan (AP, CE), the Ignite coordinators. The athletic meet showcased the students’ enthusiasm, teamwork, and true sportsman spirit, promoting physical fitness, unity, and healthy competition among participants.
